Clinic 66

I’m not sure how to feel about my experience here. I’ve had better experiences at Planned Parenthood in the US during an anti-abortion protest where I had to walk through the picket line. I needed to remove my copper IUD and was advised I would not need sedation for the removal as it was easy and painless. The clinic itself looks beautiful when you walk in but it stops there, the staff are not very welcoming or friendly, the rooms are small and windows only have portions frosted, when you’re asked to widen your knees you can only do so with one leg, the other is 90 degrees with the wall. I was not given privacy to undress or to get onto the half metal table. I told the nurse I was extremely anxious and was not given any reassurance, in fact she laughed. She stuck the speculum inside and opened to the point of pain before deciding she needed another speculum and left me in the room alone with barely a word (in which I couldn’t understand due to mumbling). She couldn’t get the mirena out on the first tug and barely got it out with the second. It was an absolutely horrible experience and just as painful as the insertion. I told her I was feeling faint and needed to lie down where she did the bare minimal of confirming I can lie down but ultimately I didn’t even feel comfortable enough lying down or staying. Next time I will pay more attention to the negative reviews and ladies opt in for the sedation if you can, don’t listen or believe them when they say it’s quick and easy. Proof enough in the medical industry that women’s symptoms and pains are ignored and minimized, and disappointed a female clinic is playing that same role.

there is some good but I would never go back here. I came in about 2 years ago for an IUD insertion under sedation, receptionist over the phone was very kind and prices were reasonable. once I came in, everything went smoothly at first. my partner wasn't allowed in, but it was during covid times so understandable. I went into the room for sedation and felt like I was given very little instruction regarding the process / sedation itself. once I woke up, I was in excruciating pain. I always have terrible cramps so honestly wasn't expecting anything different. I let the nurses know and was given some medication, I let them know it didn't help after about 30 minutes before being told "there's nothing else we can give you". i ended up leaving the clinic in so much pain I could hardly walk, it was disappointing that they didn't offer much compassion or support for this - luckily the pain did resolve over the next 2 days. anyway, I came back to the clinic to get my IUD removed about a year later ( for a range of personal reasons ). Once I came in the nurse immediately asked me questions as to why I was getting to removed early etc. i told her and then she replied, " that's okay, we'll see you back here soon for an abortion". i was so shocked and disgusted by this comment - for assuming I would get pregnant without an IUD AND assuming I would have an abortion. overall, Clinic 66 is okay but I personally would never go back following my experience there.
